Before we get started, we should say that we guarantee all of our chutneys.
This doesn't mean that we bet our life that each jar will be perfect, but just that we want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase.
People with taste consider our chutneys the best on the market. We haven’t tried the thousands of other chutneys out there so we can’t agree with them. However, we do know that our chutneys require the finest ingredients and take a long time to cook, bubbling away in small open pans.
If any product is unsatisfactory, please let us know and we will send a replacement or refund your money, whatever it takes to make it right.

Why are some jars chunkier/runnier than others?
Because of our small batches, the consistency can
vary. If you open a jar and don’t like what you see,
please call or write us and we'll send you another.
Even the finest wines can be corked. Think of our
chutneys like that, pat yourself on the back for
having a sensitive palette, then let us know and
we'll make it right!
Eliza Acton, in her 1845 classic “Modern Cookery
for Private Families” wrote, “All chutneys should be
quite thick, almost of the consistence of mashed
turnips or stewed tomatoes, or stiff bread sauce.” |
|
How long does it last? The expiration date fell off!
Thanks to the vinegar and spices, our chutney is
naturally preserved. The Dept. of Agriculture
approves our chutney for 2 years after production.
Even after you open the jar, it can last indefinitely in
the fridge as long as you don’t use a dirty knife or
spoon when you dole it out. Check out this story of
a 35 year old chutney! |
|
The color is different?
So is the color of our fruit. Our local farmers give us
the best, most flavorful fruit. Giant, genetically and
chemically modified, perfect looking fruit is not our
style. Flavor is our top priority. |
|
I opened a jar but found that it isn’t very hot.
Chutney's heat will mellow with age and “hot” is a
relative term. There are Indian chutneys that will
make you sweat in seconds. We suggest you add a
little hot pepper and make your own spicy concoction.
Or just e-mail us and we’ll make it right. |
|
My friend says that ketchup is the same as chutney, what gives?
Your friend is missing the bigger picture, but he or
she is correct. In 1837 Americans selling ketchup
in Britain were encouraged to rename it "tomato
chutney" in order to draw attention to the
differences between their product and the
mushroom ketchup popular in Britain. Mushroom
ketchup sounds like a nightmare to us, but it might
be nice, either way, we’ll stick with chutney. |

When will you ship my order?

Ground. |
